In the dream, it was well known that every year an alien race tried to invade the planet. I was unsure whether they were actual alien beings or parasites but I knew their next attempt was soon and we had to prepare.
I was behind an old building by the back loading dock (maybe the abandoned post office in Southport). I was standing on the grass behind this building with Tony Stark (as played by RDJ) and a large utility truck was backing up to us to offload. In the back of the truck was a large Russian man who sounded just like Mickey Rourke but wasn't This man had abnormally wide shoulders and a smaller waist and he had metal plates on various parts of his body like his right abdomen and left bicep. They served no purpose though. The Russian man climbed out of the back of the truck with snide grin on his face. "You'll need my help." he told us with a sneer. I thought that we'd see about that.
As we stood there in the grass, we noticed shadows being cast over us, the building and the whole neighborhood. The three of us looked up to the skiy to see what looked to be thousands of ships emerging from the clouds and descending at various speeds towards the surface. "Heh. Too late."
Tony grabbed the Russian man by the arm and started dragging him inside while he told me to get the command module to my sister. The command module turned out to be a Nook (you know, the B&N ereader) and I was running with it under my arm to a red minivan parked out front on the street. The street was my old street I grew up on (Younce st.) Mom was in the driver seat and Rachel was in the back seat and they were waiting for me. I handed Rachel the command module and told her that we only have two wings of defenders this time so she doesn't have to worry about callsigns, just call out commands to Left Wing or Right Wing. I then noticed a large ship that looked to be a transport was cruising slowly down the street towards us. I told my mom that she needed to get mobile and stay safe and the two of them took off in the van down the street.
I hid behind a tree along the street and watched the transport come to a halt and land. It looked they were unloading people, just normal average human people. I noticed that I unfortunately had only handed Rachel the sleeve slip-cover for the command module and I still had the Nook in my hands. I took off running down the street away from the transport and I still saw the red van at the end of the street. They weren't going fast at all so I was almost able to catch up before they turned a corner. As I ran I looked over my shoulder back at the transport and saw that the people it had unloaded were disseminating out into the neighborhood and buildings and starting to calmly enter houses. This disturbed me as I reached the street I had seen the van turn down. I rounded the corner and found myself in the parking lot of what looked to be a store similar to Michael's or Hobby Lobby with the van out front, doors open and the engine running. It looked like they had gone inside and I needed to find Rachel so I proceeded into the store.
The store seemed to have lost power or be on emergency power only cause it was poorly lit and cramped. The store was in disarray. Things weren't where they should have been and all the people in the store shopping were wide eyed and oblivious but they were all doing menial tasks or moving things around. The entire building was eerily quiet save for the footsteps. The store employees were walking around watching over the shoppers and each of them was holding a strange device in one hand. I wandered through the store and avoided the people going about their tasks as they didn't seem to see me at all. I saw a young girl hiding way back in a display shelf and she was frantically writing things down on cardboard. I stopped and looked at her to see what she was doing and she looked up at me terrified and gestured wildly for me to move on and not draw attention. I kept moving through the store looking around and my phone rang. I looked down at my phone and it was my sister. "Stay calm, move slowly out of the store and avoid the staff. Do not look at anyone. We are outside" and then she hung up. I moved quickly towards the front door and tried to look as inconspicuous as possible. When I was almost to the door, a store employee stepped out in front of me and I looked him in the eye. His pupils were impossibly small and he raised his device to my forehead. I felt my mind begin to get fuzzy and lose track of what I was doing. I grabbed the man's forearm and elbow and twisted them till I laid him on the ground and took the device out of his hand. As soon as I had it, everyone in the store stopped what they were doing and looked directly at me. They were silent, still and very angry. Outside I heard my sister yell at me to run and I turned on my heel and bolted out the door towards the van as the store seemed to descend on me.
I climbed into the already rolling van as I heard my phone's alarm clock blaring and I woke up to get ready for work.
